Please find below details of the work that your child’s class will be doing during this term. I have also suggested ways in which you can help your child at home.

Main Areas of Study

English – Grammar, punctuation, comprehension, Narrative & Persuasive writing.

Maths – main emphasis on number facts and relationships, measuring skills, geometry skills, number sequences, fractions, decimals, percentages and ratio, reasoning and data skills.

Science – Interdependence of Organisms – Habitats, food chains and parts of the body

History – The Tudors - We will be holding our Class Assembly on Tuesday 13th June at 10am.

Geography – Studying the locality of St Lucia

PE – Athletics and rounders

Art – Sketching

Welsh - Commands, phrases and sentence patterns. Writing about a friend in Welsh. Welsh reading comprehension

ICT – Use of iPads during sessions. Weekly ICT session with Mrs Shannon, learning how to use various programs linked with the LNF and topic work. Digital Competency Framework.

RE – Journeys and Pilgrimages

Ways Which You Can Help at Home

  1. Follow us on Twitter @CGPrimary for regular tweets of your child and their learning in school.
  2. Please send any interesting objects to school (not valuable items, please).
  3. Please listen to your child reading at home every night (a Reading Diary is provided for you to make comments).
  4. Please talk to your child about what they have been learning at school and encourage them to discuss topics and ask further questions.
  5. Visit the local library to choose books relevant to topics being studied at school.
  6. Homework will be sent home every Friday, to be in by the following Tuesday.
  7. A spelling list will be sent home every Monday. Children will be tested on these words the following Friday.
  8. Please send in £1 every Monday for your child to enjoy fruit kebabs daily with a healthy fruit lolly on a Friday.
  9. Games kit will be needed to be brought in on Monday and taken home on Friday.
